US allows visa-free entry for citizens 90 days from 41 countries

People from 41 countries can now visit the United States for up to 90 days without needing a visa, thanks to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

But to qualify, travelers must meet certain conditions and get approval through the ESTA system (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before their trip.

This step is part of the U.S. government’s plan to boost tourism — not just to big cities like New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, but also to smaller towns and rural areas across the country.

Who Can Travel Under the Visa Waiver Program?

Some of the countries included are:
Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and United Kingdom.

Important Conditions

• The visit must be 90 days or less.

• ESTA approval is required before boarding a flight to the U.S.

Exceptions

Even if you’re from a VWP country, you’ll need a visa if:

• You’ve been to North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen after March 1, 2011

• You’ve visited Cuba after January 12, 2021

• Or you have dual nationality with Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria

So, before making travel plans, make sure to check all the rules and apply for ESTA if you qualify.
