‘I Would Advise Everyone Not To’: Zoya Nasir Shares Useful Advice for New Actors

29 April, 2025 13:01

Pakistani actor and entrepreneur Zoya Nasir has shared some honest and practical advice for young fans hoping to break into the entertainment industry. In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, the Noor Jahan star opened up about the realities of showbiz and urged aspiring actors not to depend solely on acting as their main source of income.

Zoya Nasir, daughter of acclaimed writer Nasir Adeeb, didn’t enter the drama scene right away despite her strong industry roots. Instead, she completed her education in Cosmetology from New York, built a successful beauty business, and opened her own salon in Lahore—only then did she make her acting debut in 2019 with ARY Digital’s Hania.

Reflecting on her journey, she encouraged others to give acting a try—but with realistic expectations. “You must try; there is no harm in trying. I’m really happy that I gave it a shot,” she said.

However, she cautioned against relying entirely on an acting career, citing its financial unpredictability. “But I would advise everyone not to have it (acting) as your only source of income. You have to have a separate source of income.”

Zoya emphasized that having another income stream gives actors the freedom to make better professional choices without compromising their values or creative direction. “Because, if not, you will become too dependent on it, and will end up doing roles or things that you don’t want to do. But if you’re financially stable from another stream, you will have an option to take up projects and roles of your choice.”

She also addressed the uncertain nature of showbiz, describing it as an unstable field where consistent success isn’t guaranteed—even for talented individuals. “Also, this is a very unstable and unpredictable kind of industry. You never know how fluctuant your journey will be. So I would suggest that if it’s your calling and you want to try here, have another option with you as well.”

With her rising profile and entrepreneurial success, Zoya Nasir’s advice for actors stands out as both grounded and empowering. Her perspective is a timely reminder that passion for the arts should be balanced with financial security and long-term planning—especially in an industry as unpredictable as entertainment.
