PSL 10: Faheem’s 4-wicket haul stuns Islamabad United

LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators’ all-rounder Faheem Ashraf produced a match-defining spell, grabbing 4 wickets for 25 runs, to restrict Islamabad United to 157/9 in the 23rd match of PSL 10 at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Put in to bat first, Islamabad began strongly as openers Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers added 58 runs in quick time. However, Quetta struck back soon after, with Abrar Ahmed removing Mayers for 22. Faheem then rattled the middle order, dismissing Colin Munro, Agha Salman, Andries Gous, and Muhammad Shahzad in a fiery spell.

Farhan top-scored with a brisk 39 off 24 balls, including 4 sixes, but United’s innings crumbled after his departure. Despite a late recovery led by Mohammad Nawaz (49 off 34), the defending champions failed to post a strong total.

Quetta’s bowling unit, led by Faheem, received valuable support from Khurram Shahzad, Saud Shakeel, Abrar Ahmed, and Kyle Jamieson, who took a wicket each.

With a modest target of 158, the Gladiators will look to chase down the total and keep their playoff hopes alive.
