05 May, 2025 12:28

Police in Coonabarabran, a town in central-west New South Wales, made a tragic discovery on Monday afternoon. Around 2 p.m., emergency services were called to a home following concerns for the welfare of residents.

Inside the home, officers found the bodies of two children, aged eight and ten. A 66-year-old woman, believed to be their grandmother, was also at the scene.

She was taken to the local police station for questioning. Police have not yet confirmed any charges, and investigations are continuing. A spokeswoman for NSW Police said only, “Inquiries are ongoing.”

The identity of the children and the woman has not been released at this stage.

Brisbane, QLD: Woman Charged in Baby’s Death

In a separate case in Darra, southwest Brisbane, police have charged a 63-year-old woman with manslaughter over the death of an 11-month-old baby boy last year.

On April 3, 2024, police and emergency crews responded to reports of an unconscious baby at a home. Sadly, the baby was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation, named Operation Whiskey Nocturne, was launched to determine what happened. After more than a year of inquiries, detectives charged the woman on Monday with manslaughter.

She is scheduled to appear before the Richland Magistrates Court on June 4.

Both incidents have deeply affected their communities and raised questions about child safety and care in domestic settings.
