Emergency NSC Meeting Begins to Respond to Indian Aggression

07 May, 2025 12:34

Islamabad: A high-level meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has commenced in Islamabad to assess the worsening situation following India’s recent attack on Pakistani territory.

According to the official statement, the meeting is being attended by federal ministers, the chiefs of Pakistan’s armed forces, and the National Security Adviser. The committee is focusing on developing a comprehensive and strategic response to the Indian military strikes.

Participants are being briefed on the overall security landscape, including the Pakistan Army’s defensive actions and options for future military and diplomatic steps. The NSC is closely examining the evolving situation between India and Pakistan to ensure robust measures for national security in the face of growing regional tensions.

Recent Indian missile attacks targeted multiple areas in Pakistan, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Ahmedpur Sharqia Bagh, and Muridke. The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, condemned the attacks as cowardly and vowed that such aggression would not go unanswered.

The Pakistan Air Force responded swiftly, intercepting the threat and ensuring that no Indian aircraft violated Pakistani airspace. In retaliation, Pakistan’s military shot down five Indian aircraft, including fighter jets, and destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters.

According to the DG ISPR, the Indian attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 26 Pakistani civilians and injuries to 46 others. In a late-night press briefing, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that 24 missile strikes hit six locations, causing significant civilian casualties and damage. Pakistan’s armed forces continue to deliver what officials describe as a “befitting response” to India’s aggression.
