Fear of Pakistan forces Amritsar airport shutdown

India cancels 90 flights amid closure of 27 airports over security concerns
India has shut down all flight operations at Amritsar Airport following reports of a possible military reaction from Pakistan. The closure comes after India allegedly carried out an unprovoked military strike on Pakistani territory. The situation is tense, especially near the border regions.
According to Indian media, several major cities across the country are now on high alert. Security has been tightened, especially in areas close to the Pakistan border. This includes cities in northern and northwestern India.
Shri Venala, Additional Commissioner of Police in Amritsar, confirmed that air traffic between northern and northwestern India has been stopped. He said this is a precautionary step in case the conflict gets worse.
Sources suggest that the Indian government fears a strong military response from Pakistan. Since Amritsar lies very close to the border, it has become a sensitive zone during this time of high tension.
Last night, a blackout was observed across Amritsar. All lights were turned off as part of a civil defense drill ordered by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. Such drills are usually carried out during serious threats, like the possibility of war.
Although India has not officially confirmed the military action, the steps being taken show the seriousness of the situation. The airport shutdown, blackout, and military precautions point to rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Pakistan has not yet given any official response. But defense analysts believe that Islamabad is carefully watching and will act if necessary.
People on both sides of the border are anxious. While many hope for peace, both governments are preparing for any possible escalation.
