US Vice President Urged Modi to Pursue Ceasefire with Pakistan Amid Alarming Intelligence Reports
Washington: Amid rising concerns over potential escalation between India and Pakistan, it has been revealed that US Vice President J.D. Vance personally intervened by pressing the Prime Minister of India to consider a ceasefire with Pakistan.
As reported by CNN, the move came after American officials received highly sensitive intelligence, prompting Vice President Vance to call Modi directly. During the conversation, Vance encouraged the Indian leader to open direct communication with Pakistan and consider all available avenues to ease tensions.
According to the report, the alarming intelligence briefing was shared with Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The information was described as serious enough to convince all three that the United States needed to deepen its involvement in the unfolding situation.
In his call with Modi, Vance reportedly warned that the situation could become significantly more dangerous as the weekend approached. The White House, he said, believed the risk of escalation was growing rapidly.
Sources revealed that Vance also laid out a potential diplomatic solution to Modi—one that the U.S. believed Pakistan was willing to accept. Following this outreach, Secretary Rubio and other senior officials engaged in continuous communication with both Indian and Pakistani leadership throughout the night, working to maintain momentum toward de-escalation.
