Colonel Sofia Qureshi’s House Attacked After Minister’s Vijay Shah Controversial Remarks

Tensions escalated on Wednesday after a shocking incident in Gokak, Belagavi district, where the residence of Colonel Sofia Qureshi, a spokesperson of the Indian armed forces, was reportedly attacked by Hindu extremists.

According to sources, the attackers stormed her house, vandalized property, and allegedly tortured her family members. The violent act is believed to be a reaction to recent controversial remarks made by Madhya Pradesh minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Shah.

Colonel Sofia Qureshi, who is a Muslim officer, has been actively briefing the media on ‘Operation Sindoor’, an ongoing Indian military operation against Pakistan. She regularly appears alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in official press briefings.

Vijay Shah recently stirred national outrage after making an objectionable comment, calling Colonel Qureshi a “sister of terrorists.” His remarks were widely condemned and have sparked political debate across the country.

Opposition leaders, particularly from the Congress party, have demanded Shah’s immediate removal from the cabinet. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticized Shah, stating that such “derogatory” statements against a senior army officer are unacceptable and dangerous.

Amid the controversy, disturbing reports surfaced on social media, claiming that RSS activists were involved in the attack on Qureshi’s home. While official confirmation is awaited, videos and photos shared online show signs of damage and chaos at the site.

No arrests have been reported yet. Security has been increased around the area, and an investigation is underway. The government has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.

This incident has raised serious concerns over rising political rhetoric, religious targeting, and the safety of military personnel and their families.
