Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Tashakkur today to celebrate the countryโs success in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, launched in response to Indian aggression. The day began with special prayers and tribute ceremonies across the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the armed forces and the people of Pakistan for their courage, unity, and sacrifice.
President Zardariโs Message
In his official message, President Zardari said that Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or core national interests. He praised the armed forces for their precise, professional, and strong response to India’s unprovoked actions.
โThis is a proud moment for the nation,โ he said, โas we thank Allah Almighty for granting us victory in a critical hour. Our armed forces stood like a fortified wall, and the entire nation stood united behind them.โ
He added that the world saw Pakistanโs patience, operational strength, and restraint, and acknowledged the country’s peaceful intent. However, he warned that any act of aggression against Pakistan would be responded to with full force.
On the Indus Waters Treaty, Zardari reiterated Pakistanโs firm stance and said any unilateral suspension by India would not be accepted. โPakistan will use all means to defend its water rights,โ he stressed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifโs Message
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, also thanked Allah for the success in the Marka-e-Haq (battle of truth). He paid tribute to the martyrs and saluted the bravery of the armed forces.
He recalled the events of May 6 and 7, when Indian forces launched attacks resulting in the death of innocent civilians. Pakistan was forced to respond โ and did so with precision and strength.
โIn just a few hours,โ the PM said, โour forces brought the enemy to its knees. Their advanced fighter jets, like Rafales, turned into ashes. Our Shaheens (falcons) gave them a befitting reply and wrote a golden chapter in military history.โ
The premier called the victory a win against an outdated and hateful ideology, one based on religious extremism and aggression. โThis is the triumph of our principles, our dignity, and our unity.โ
He extended deep gratitude to General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, and also praised Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Babar and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf for defending the land, skies, and sea frontiers.
PM Shehbaz also thanked political parties, parliament, and all leaders for historic unity in the face of national crisis.
