Saudi Arabia rejects forced eviction of Palestinians

17 May, 2025 19:19

Baghdad: Saudi Arabia has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and has categorically rejected any attempt to forcibly evict the Palestinian people.

According to Al Jazeera, during a key Arab League meeting in Baghdad, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir said that Israel’s crimes and serious human rights violations in Gaza are a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

“We should all work together to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people,” he said.

Adel al-Jubeir also reiterated Saudi Arabia’s stance against the forced transfer of Palestinians and called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

He added that Saudi Arabia rejects any proposal or solution that does not meet the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people for self-determination and independence, which include the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It should be noted that this statement came at a time when American media claimed on Friday that the Trump administration was working on a plan to permanently relocate 1 million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya.

A former US official says that the US has also discussed the project with the Libyan leadership.

According to the report, the Trump administration will restore billions of dollars frozen in Libya in exchange for Palestinian resettlement.
