Telegram to Get Grok Chatbot — Here’s How It Will Change Your Chats

Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, has announced a partnership with messaging platform Telegram to introduce its Grok chatbot to Telegram’s user base of over one billion.

The deal involves a $300 million investment from xAI, comprising both cash and stock, to integrate the Grok Chatbot directly into the Telegram app.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov revealed that the one-year agreement includes a revenue-sharing arrangement, with Telegram set to receive 50% of all subscription income generated through Grok’s services on the platform.

To address privacy concerns, Durov stated that xAI will only access data explicitly shared by users during their interactions with the chatbot, ensuring the protection of user information.

The move comes as AI companies increasingly seek quality data sources to train their models, amid growing limitations in open-source datasets. While companies like Meta have started utilizing public user content for AI development, it remains uncertain whether xAI will adopt a similar approach with Telegram data.

xAI has been actively expanding through various partnerships this year, aiming to strengthen its presence in AI infrastructure and financial technology. When contacted by Reuters, both xAI and Telegram declined to provide additional comments on the agreement.
