How to Apply for Punjab Electric Taxi Scheme

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab has officially opened the registration phase for its much-awaited E-Taxi Scheme 2025, an initiative aimed at providing electric taxis to unemployed youth at subsidized rates.

This forward-looking program is part of Punjab’s mission to create jobs, support green transportation, and cut emissions by introducing electric vehicles (EVs) into the public transport system.

What Is the Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025?

Launched earlier this year, the E-Taxi Project targets unemployed youth by helping them become self-employed drivers of eco-friendly electric taxis. The scheme offers multiple incentives, including financial support, to make EV ownership easier and more affordable.

Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Punjab E-Taxi Scheme, applicants must:

• Be a permanent resident of Punjab

• Hold a valid driving license issued by the Punjab Transport Authority

• Have a clean driving record

• Be aged between 21 and 55 years

Government Support & Financial Benefits

The Punjab government is offering a comprehensive financial package that includes:

• Equity payment support

• Five-year loan facility through the Bank of Punjab

• Partial coverage of vehicle registration charges

This ensures that even those with limited financial resources can benefit from the scheme.

Important Deadline

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), authorized dealers, distributors, and joint venture partners are invited to submit eligible EV models for approval by:

Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – 11:00 AM
Submissions must be made in person at the Transport and Mass Transit Department, 11-A Egerton Road, Lahore.

Only EVs that meet safety, performance, and taxi operation standards will be considered.
