Elon Musk Claims Trump Named in Epstein Files Amid Explosive Public Feud

06 June, 2025 11:51

A fiery public feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump has taken a dramatic turn, with the Tesla CEO alleging that Trump’s name appears in the controversial Epstein files. The claim, made by Musk during a heated exchange on social media, has sparked global attention and renewed scrutiny of the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s connections.

The confrontation began after Trump, during a live televised address from the Oval Office, expressed anger over criticism from Musk regarding a government spending bill. Trump stated he was “very disappointed” with remarks from his major campaign donor, and hinted at potentially terminating Musk’s multi-billion-dollar federal contracts.

In response, Musk fired back publicly, asserting that Trump wouldn’t have secured the 2024 election win without his support and criticized the former president for his “ingratitude” on X, his social media platform. Musk also made the startling claim that Trump “is in the Epstein files”, referencing government records tied to Epstein, who died by suicide in jail while awaiting trial for sex crimes.

The fallout of the feud was immediate — Tesla’s stock plummeted by approximately 15%, erasing over $100 billion from its market value.

Trump further intensified the spat by accusing Musk of having “Trump derangement system” and said their once-strong relationship may be over. “Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump remarked, in the presence of visiting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Musk, who had contributed $300 million to Trump’s re-election campaign, posted multiple messages accusing the Republican of making “false” claims. He stated: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate.”

Musk even floated the idea of forming a new political party through an online poll, suggesting possible long-term rifts within the Republican camp.

As tensions mounted, Trump retaliated by threatening Musk’s contracts, including those related to space launches and Starlink satellite services. “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Their once promising alliance — which saw Musk flying on Air Force One and staying at Mar-a-Lago — now appears fully fractured. Musk’s short stint as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) ended after just four months due to clashes with Trump’s cabinet and dissatisfaction with bureaucratic delays.

Caught in the middle of the unfolding drama was German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who quietly observed Trump’s tirade — arguably the only one to leave unscathed from the Oval Office showdown.
