Eidul Adha being celebrated in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and other countries

Eidul Adha is being celebrated today with deep religious devotion in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and several other Gulf nations. Large congregational prayers were offered at Islam’s holiest sites, including Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.

According to reports, “Eid prayers were performed this morning in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, where thousands of worshippers gathered.” Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly led the Eid prayer and delivered the sermon at Masjid al-Haram.

Similar religious gatherings were also witnessed at Al-Aqsa Mosque and in countries such as Lebanon and Egypt, where people offered Eid prayers and later conducted the ritual animal sacrifice.

In Syria, a large number of worshippers attended Eid prayers at the Grand Mosque in Damascus, where interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa was present.

Meanwhile, Hajj pilgrims have started arriving in Mina from Muzdalifah to perform the sacred ritual of Rami, or stoning of the devil. This will be followed by animal sacrifice, shaving of heads, changing from Ihram attire, and performing Tawaf al-Ziyarah and Sa’i in Makkah.

Beyond the Middle East, “some parts of Europe and North America are also celebrating Eid today, while others will mark the occasion tomorrow (Monday), resulting in two separate Eid observances this year.” In countries like the US, UK, Canada, and other parts of Europe, Eid is being observed on different days by various Muslim communities.

In the UAE’s major cities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, mosques and open prayer grounds witnessed large turnouts for Eid prayers.

In Pakistan, “the Bohra community is also celebrating Eidul Adha today, with Eid prayers held in Karachi at locations such as Saddar, Pakistan Chowk, Hyderi, and Baloch Colony.”
