Who is Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam? Talented Crew Member Lost in Air India Crash

Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam, a dedicated flight attendant from Thoubal district in Manipur, was one of the 12 crew members who tragically died in the Air India Flight 171 disaster on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 people.

Nganthoi had been serving as a cabin crew member since 2023. She was known among friends and colleagues for her positive energy and professional attitude. Her family was too heartbroken to speak after receiving the devastating news.

The crash occurred when the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner reported engine failure. The pilot made a mayday call just seconds after takeoff. The plane then plummeted into a densely populated area in Meghani, turning into a fireball.

Local politician Surjakumar Okram visited Nganthoi’s family home to offer support. He expressed deep sorrow, saying the community had lost a bright and ambitious young woman.

Nganthoi’s dedication to her work and her hopeful spirit made her stand out. Her death is a significant loss to the aviation community and to her loved ones in Manipur.
