How many earthquakes have shaken Karachi since June 1, 2025?
Earthquake felt in Peshawar and surrounding areas
Karachi recorded a total of 39 earthquakes between June 1 and 15, 2025, according to seismic reports. The highest magnitude, 3.6, was observed on June 1 at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Most of these quakes were felt in areas like Malir, Landhi, Quaidabad, Gulzar Hijri, and Shah Latif Town. Experts say these tremors are related to the Landhi Fault Line, and while they’re not strong, the frequent activity has made people uneasy.
No major injuries or building damage were reported from the quakes themselves. However, the June 1 quake caused panic at Malir Jail, leading to the escape of 216 prisoners.
By the next day, 78 inmates had been caught. During one confrontation, 1 inmate was killed and 3 jail staff were injured, as reported by Wikipedia and official sources.
Seismologists confirmed that these tremors are part of the earth’s natural stress release along fault lines. There is no current sign of a major earthquake threat, but authorities are watching the situation closely.
