Janet Fison, a British woman from Redhill, Surrey, has been missing for 17 days. She disappeared on May 30 from her home in Jacarilla, a village near Costa Blanca, Spain.
The 67-year-old was last seen around 7pm, wearing a bright printed dress. She left without her phone, money, or other personal items.
The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed that CCTV cameras showed Janet in a local shop. That was the last confirmed sighting. Later, she was reportedly seen walking near the river towards Benejuzar at around 8:40pm.
Police have launched a major search operation. Drones, helicopters, sniffer dogs, and thermal cameras have been used to try and find her. So far, no further leads have been found.
Jacarilla Town Hall shared an update, thanking residents for their help and asking anyone with information to contact police immediately. “Janet is still missing,” their statement said. “The image taken in a local business shows what she was wearing the day she vanished.”
Locals have voiced concern online. One expat said, “I knew Janet when we lived in Jacarilla, I hope she’s found safe and well.” Another added, “I know Janet. I hope she is found soon.” A third shared, “I hope they find her safe. The area can be dangerous.”
Authorities continue to treat the case as urgent. Anyone with information is asked to come forward as the search continues into its third week.
