Bhopal Bridge Collapse Reveals Modi Government’s Corruption, Incompetence, and Nepotism

The Bhopal bridge collapse has revealed serious issues of corruption, incompetence, and favoritism within the Modi government. Billions of rupees invested in India’s development projects have turned into symbols of mismanagement and corruption, endangering public safety and property.

Under Modi’s administration, every new infrastructure project suffers from flawed planning and political interference. Projects launched under the banner of development have instead become a cause of public hardship, with no accountability for failures.

According to India Today, the Bhopal bridge, started in March 2023, collapsed before it could even be opened for public use. The 180 million rupee overbridge faced public criticism due to a dangerously sharp curve even before inauguration. The project was initially promised to be completed in 18 months, but delays extended the deadline to 36 months. After 27 months, the bridge collapsed before it reached the final stages of completion.

According to NDTV, the public raised serious questions about the bridge’s “extraordinary and unsafe design. Opposition leaders criticized the government and senior officials for incompetence and poor planning. Construction authorities tried to minimize the severity of the incident to avoid public backlash and conceal their failures.

The bridge was meant to connect Pashpa Nagar and New Bhopal but has become a hazard instead of a convenience. The project was entrusted not to experienced professionals but to BJP-affiliated, unqualified engineers. Despite the heavy expenditure, the bridge’s design failed to prioritize public safety, highlighting the Modi government’s misplaced priorities.

Corruption and administrative incompetence during Modi’s tenure have brought India’s state institutions to the brink of collapse. The government’s disorganized and unprofessional project planning has become a burden on the public.

The Bhopal bridge collapse is a clear example of nepotism and incompetence within the Modi government.
