PTA issues statement for mobile registration to overseas Pakistanis

How to check PTA tax and register your mobile in Pakistan
On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced a new update for overseas Pakistanis visiting the country. Under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) policy, overseas Pakistanis can now register their mobile devices tax-free for up to 120 days per visit.
This facility is available through PTA’s automated Temporary Mobile Registration System. It is fully digital and easy to use. Visitors can access it online via the DIRBS portal at https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs.
To complete the registration, applicants must provide their passport number, date of arrival in Pakistan, intended departure date, mobile SIM information registered in their name, and the IMEI number of their device(s).
How to Register for FBR Tax-Free Mobile Registration:
Visit the PTA’s Device Registration System (DIRBS) portal.
Follow the step-by-step online registration process.
Enter your passport details, arrival and departure dates, mobile SIM info, and IMEI number(s).
The system will automatically verify your arrival date using FIA data.
Upon verification, your device will be registered for use in Pakistan for 120 days without tax.
This new system ensures that overseas Pakistanis enjoy uninterrupted mobile connectivity during their visits. PTA and FBR have launched this initiative to simplify the registration process and promote digital inclusion for visiting citizens.
