Aina Asif Reflects on Dealing with Online Trolling as Child

Young actress Aina Asif has achieved significant fame at an early age. She began her acting journey with a supporting role in Hum Tum and later gained widespread recognition through her performance in the hit drama Mayi Ri, which marked a turning point in her career. Since then, she has become a popular choice for lead roles, though she reminds everyone that she is still a child. Aina recently turned 16.

In a conversation with BBC Urdu, Aina shared that she has always been transparent with her fans about her age. She rose to fame with Mayi Ri at just 14, and now at 16, she finds herself portraying adult characters while still being a teenager in real life.

Aina also spoke openly about the trolling she has experienced. She acknowledged that criticism comes with being in the public eye and said she tries to take constructive feedback positively. However, harsh trolling has impacted her emotionally. In the past, negative comments would make her cry, and although she has developed more resilience, such remarks still affect her. She mentioned being compared to cartoon characters and facing comments about her appearance from online trolls.

She emphasized that as an actress, her focus is on her work and performance. Aina expressed that people cannot change how they look, and she does not appreciate being judged based on appearance.
