Why Burak Özçivit Leaving Kurlus Osman Series? Here's the Reason
Turkish actor Burak Özçivit, renowned for his iconic role as Osman Bey in the hit historical series Kuruluş Osman, has officially left the show after five successful seasons.
According to Turkish media reports, Özçivit’s departure followed a financial disagreement with the show’s producer, Mehmet Bozdağ. The actor reportedly requested a salary of 4 million Turkish lira per episode for the upcoming season. This demand caused tension between Özçivit and the production team, culminating in both parties unfollowing each other on social media.
Sources indicate that the new season will portray an older Osman Bey, gradually shifting the focus to his son, Orhan Bey. While no casting decisions have been finalized, actors such as Mert Yazıcıoğlu, Murat Yıldırım, and İbrahim Çelikkol are reportedly being considered for the lead role.
Having portrayed the founding father of the Ottoman Empire since the series’ inception, Özçivit is one of Turkey’s highest-paid TV stars. He was earning over €40,000 per episode, substantially higher than his co-stars, whose salaries ranged between €15,000 and €30,000 per episode.
Kuruluş Osman continues to be one of Turkey’s top-rated dramas and enjoys international acclaim for its historical storytelling, production quality, and performances.
