Tim David Hits Fastest T20I Century for Australia in Big Win Over West Indies

Australia defeated West Indies by six wickets in the third T20I on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Warner Park, Saint Kitts. With this win, the Aussies sealed the five-match T20I series by taking an unbeatable 3-0 lead.

The star of the match was Tim David, who smashed the fastest T20I century ever by an Australian. He reached the hundred mark in just 37 balls, breaking Josh Inglis’ previous record of 43 balls.

David’s explosive knock included 11 sixes and six fours, as he remained unbeaten on 102 runs. Thanks to his heroic effort, Australia chased down the target of 215 runs with 23 balls left.

“I was just having fun out there. I never thought I’d get a hundred for Australia,” David said after the match.

The West Indies batted first after losing the toss. Their openers Shai Hope and Brandon King gave a strong start with a 125-run partnership. Hope stayed till the end and scored a brilliant 102 not out from 57 balls. However, the rest of the batting lineup couldn’t contribute much. West Indies finished on 214/4.

Australia’s chase looked shaky at the beginning. They were 61/3 in under 6 overs, but Tim David turned the match around with his power hitting.

Mitchell Owen, playing a key role with both bat and ball, helped break West Indies’ momentum by dismissing Brandon King. The other West Indian batters—Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, and Rovman Powell—failed to score big.

West Indies captain Shai Hope admitted that his team was short on runs.

“It’s hard to defend a total on such a small ground. We didn’t take enough wickets either,” Hope said.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh praised his team’s all-round performance.

“We’ve been playing great cricket. Tim’s knock was unbelievable,” Marsh said.

Australia had also won the first T20I by three wickets and second T20I by eight wickets.
