Israel Shows Growing Interest in Balochistan to Counter Iran, Pakistan: Report

Tel Aviv – A new article published in The Times of Israel has confirmed that Israel is showing increasing strategic interest in Balochistan, possibly as part of its efforts to counter Iran and Pakistan.

The article, written by Italian political advisor and geopolitical analyst Sergio Restelli, highlights a new initiative by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) called the Balochistan Studies Project (BSP). This follows a similar report recently published by Al Jazeera.

MEMRI is believed to have close ties with Israeli intelligence, and this new project focuses on studying and documenting the Balochistan issue. While the BSP may seem like an academic effort, many analysts see it as part of a larger strategic move.

The article suggests that some Israeli circles no longer view Balochistan as just a remote or unstable region. Instead, they now see it as a strategically important area that could be used to pressure both Iran and Pakistan indirectly.

The report explains that Israeli policy experts are beginning to support Baloch nationalist narratives as a way to challenge the influence of Iran and Pakistan in the region.

However, this growing interest has also raised concerns. Some experts warn that Israel may be trying to use the Baloch cause as a tool for its own geopolitical goals. This practice, known as instrumentalization, can harm local movements by turning them into pawns in larger power games.

The launch of the Balochistan Studies Project shows that the region is now gaining attention not only for its local issues but also for its value in international strategic planning.
