Karachi businessman Muzammil Kareem Paracha, who made headlines by buying the “A1” number plate for a record Rs 100 million, has sadly passed away after fighting cancer for a long time.

This happened during the first-ever premium number plate auction organized by the Sindh government. The auction collected a total of Rs 67.54 crore from 40 number plates. Among them, the “A1” plate received the highest bid, and Muzammil Kareem was the one who bought it.

Other big bids included:

  • “Premium Number 5” sold for Rs 50.3 million

  • “Number 7” for Rs 40.6 million

  • “Number 8” for Rs 40.10 million

  • “Number 9” for Rs 40 million

The auction event took place at a local hotel in Karachi and was conducted by the Sindh Excise Department.

One of the other highlights was the sale of the plate “786”, which was bought by a businessman named Sarosh for Rs 20.65 million. Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah personally handed him the ownership certificate.

During the event, Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that the goal of this premium number plate auction was not to support luxury but to contribute to a noble cause. He also said that these plates, like “gold and other assets”, are considered a valuable form of investment.
