Who is Delia Alberto Nasir? Filipino-Born Japanese Woman Shot in Karachi Over Husband’s Inheritance

09 August, 2025 11:58

Delia Alberto Nasir, a Filipino-born woman who holds Japanese nationality, has appealed to Pakistani authorities for justice after surviving a shooting in Karachi.

According to police reports, Delia arrived from Japan on August 3 with her children to claim the estate of her late husband. She went to her in-laws’ home in the Millat Garden area of Malir, Karachi, where a dispute reportedly broke out over the property.

During the altercation, her brother-in-law, identified as Danish, allegedly opened fire on her. Delia was hit in the leg and chest. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and is now recovering.

Police said the suspect obtained pre-arrest bail after the incident and has since gone into hiding. A case has been registered at Saudabad Police Station, and an investigation is under way.

Speaking to the media from her hospital bed, Delia said: “I came from Japan for my husband’s inheritance, but my brother-in-law shot me. I want justice.”

She urged senior officials to take immediate action, arrest the suspect, and ensure that he is brought to court.

Related Case – Karachi Woman Searching for Filipino Mother

In another incident involving Filipino nationals in Pakistan, a Karachi woman named Aliya has made a social media appeal to find her Filipino mother.

Aliya said she was born on June 15, 1993, in Pasay City, Philippines, to a Pakistani father and a Filipino mother named Gloria Go. When she was around eight months old, her father, Azhar Abbas Abidi, took her to Pakistan without legal permission.

She was raised by her father’s married sister and has lived without official identity documents. Aliya remembers only a brief court-arranged phone call with her mother when she was about five or six years old.

Now, as a mother of two children herself, she hopes to reconnect with her biological mother and also secure a legal identity.

“I want to find my mother. Please help me,” she said, urging people in the Philippines, especially in Pasay City, to share her story in the local language.
