Iran’s Army Targets US Radar Systems and Troop Positions Across Gulf

Iran’s Army has launched dozens of explosive-drone strikes against US radar systems and troop positions at Al Dhafra and Al Minhad bases in the UAE, as well as the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.

In a statement on Wednesday, Iran’s Army said the attacks were carried out as part of the 30th phase of Operation Thunder.

According to the statement, dozens of explosive drones targeted radar systems and areas where US forces were stationed at the two bases in the UAE. Radar facilities and US troop gathering points at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base were also targeted by Arash explosive drones.

The Army described Al Dhafra as a key US operational centre in the region, supporting air operations, intelligence, surveillance and logistics.

“Attacking residential areas and targeting a wedding ceremony by the enemy is a clear example of a war crime and exposes the evil nature of so-called ‘American human rights,’” the Army said.

“The response of the Army’s forces to these crimes will certainly be extensive and far-reaching,” it added.

The Iranian strikes came after recent US attacks on southern Iran. A missile strike on Khuzestan Province on Wednesday reportedly killed seven people and wounded eight others near Ahvaz and Aghajari. A separate US attack on Hormozgan Province on Tuesday hit a wedding celebration, reportedly killing at least five people and wounding 68.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said its forces had targeted the command compound and living quarters of the US commander at Kuwait’s Ali Al-Salem Air Base, along with drone hangars.

The Iranian Army and IRGC are carrying out separate military operations against US and allied targets as part of Iran’s wider response.

The latest escalation began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched large-scale strikes on Iran. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks against US and Israeli targets across the region and closed the Strait of Hormuz to US and allied vessels.

On June 17, Iran and the US signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to end the wars across all fronts. However, Iran says the US later violated the agreement by continuing its naval blockade and carrying out attacks in southern Iran.
