US Envoys Keep Moscow Visit Plans Alive, Await Ukraine’s Position on Peace Proposal

The planned visit was reportedly postponed after Witkoff and Kushner were expected to present an updated joint peace proposal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to break the diplomatic deadlock. According to Axios, uncertainty over Ukraine’s position and the level of support from European allies contributed to the delay. The Russian source said the visit could still take place, adding that all options remained on the table when asked about a possible trip within the next two weeks.
The developments follow reports that negotiations ended earlier than scheduled on October 10, with a planned second day of discussions cancelled. Axios also reported that US officials warned Ukrainian representatives that Washington could suspend intelligence-sharing if Kyiv rejected proposed concessions. Meanwhile, Trump has announced an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, although details of the arrangement remain unclear.
