Who Trains Moses Itauma? Meet the Boxer’s Trainer and Corner Team

Moses Itauma, one of Britain’s most promising young boxing talents, is rapidly rising through the heavyweight ranks. The powerful southpaw has already made waves on major undercards, including Tyson Fury’s highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The 20-year-old will now face his toughest challenge yet when he goes head-to-head with British veteran Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia. This high-stakes showdown could further solidify Itauma’s status as a future heavyweight champion — a goal many believe he will achieve in the coming years.

Behind Itauma’s rapid ascent is his trainer, the highly experienced Ben Davison. Born on November 29, 1992, Davison began in amateur boxing before pursuing semi-professional football. His entry into coaching came through a close friendship with world champion Billy Joe Saunders. Davison has since trained notable fighters including Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Josh Taylor, Leigh Wood, and Fabio Wardley. His reputation soared after helping Fury shed over 100lbs for the 2018 Deontay Wilder fight.

While Itauma’s corner team personnel changes from time to time, career management is overseen by Francis Warren, who works to secure top-tier opponents for him under the Queensberry Promotions banner — the same team managing Itauma’s younger brother, Karol.

Whyte’s trainer Buddy McGirt, however, admitted he’s unfamiliar with Itauma’s style. “I’ve never seen Moses fight, so I really don’t know what he’s ready for,” McGirt said. “What can this kid do that you haven’t already seen? But can that kid ask the same question?”

The bout will take place on Saturday, August 16, in Saudi Arabia, with coverage starting at 5.45pm BST and the main event ring walk expected at 10.20pm BST, live on DAZN.
