Lunar Eclipse 2025 in Pakistan – Date, Timings, and Visibility

KARACHI – A total lunar eclipse, commonly referred to as chand grahan, will be visible on the night of September 7 and 8, 2025, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in such a way that the Moon passes into Earth’s shadow. During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon enters the darkest part of the shadow, known as the umbra, giving it a striking red-orange hue often described as a “Blood Moon.”

Eclipse Timings in Pakistan (PST)

  • Penumbral eclipse begins: 8:28 PM – September 7

  • Partial eclipse begins: 9:27 PM – September 7

  • Total eclipse begins: 10:31 PM – September 7

  • Maximum eclipse: 11:12 PM – September 7

  • Total eclipse ends: 11:53 PM – September 7

  • Penumbral eclipse ends: 1:55 AM – September 8

Visibility

The eclipse will be visible across Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, western North America, eastern South America, and over the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, and Antarctica.

Pakistan will also witness the celestial event in its entirety, provided weather conditions remain clear.
