Karachi Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Predicted, Next 2 Days Declared Critical

Heavy rainfall continues in Karachi, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) declaring the next two days as “very important” in terms of weather conditions for the city.

According to a PMD spokesperson, “a system exists in the form of a depression near the Indian state of western Odisha, and this system will reach Indian Gujarat within the next one to one and a half days.” The system is expected to influence Sindh until August 23, bringing moderate to heavy showers across many areas of the province.

The spokesperson added, “this seems like a good rain system; the next 2 days are also very important for Karachi in terms of rainfall, during which moderate to heavy downpours may cause urban flooding in the city.”

Meteorological experts noted that the monsoon system currently extends over the Arabian Sea, leading to intermittent showers in Karachi. The city witnessed heavy rainfall earlier today, which lowered the temperature, while moderate rain is expected tomorrow.

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution, advising, “do not leave homes during severe thunderstorms and use phones only for emergency calls.” People on the roads are also warned to stay away from trees, fences, and electric poles, as these are highly vulnerable during lightning strikes.
