Karachi Rains: PDMA Declares Emergency, Citizens Advised to Use Helplines

Karachi has been battered by continuous heavy rainfall for several hours, plunging many parts of the city into crisis. Major roads and residential areas remain waterlogged, resulting in severe traffic congestion and numerous vehicles breaking down across the metropolis.

Low-lying neighborhoods are the hardest hit, where accumulated rainwater has made mobility difficult for residents. In light of the worsening conditions, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has declared a rain emergency in Karachi, urging citizens to “avoid unnecessary travel” and to promptly seek assistance from the relevant departments during emergencies.

Safety Advisory for Citizens

Authorities have strongly advised residents to:

The Sindh government, along with local administration, is actively monitoring the situation and has appealed to citizens to follow official guidelines and cooperate with rescue and emergency teams.
