Google Rolls Out Free Access to ‘Vids’ AI Video Editor

29 August, 2025 16:27

Google has made a major move in the digital content space by opening its advanced AI-powered video editor, Google Vids, to the public free of cost. Previously available only to Workspace and AI subscription holders, the platform is now accessible to everyone, providing essential editing tools and templates for polished video creation.

The free version of Google Vids includes customizable templates, an integrated media library with stock content and fonts, and basic editing functions like trimming clips and adding text—all directly through a web browser. This shift removes financial barriers for content creators, allowing educators, small business owners, and social media users to produce professional-quality videos without expensive software.

However, Google has kept several premium AI-driven tools for paid users. These advanced features include AI avatars for scripted video presentations, image-to-video generation powered by Veo 3, and transcript trimming to remove pauses and filler words. Upcoming premium tools such as noise cancellation, visual filters, and multiple aspect ratios are also in development to enhance professional workflows.

To help new users, Google is introducing a YouTube tutorial series titled “Vids on Vids”, offering step-by-step guidance on project setup, transitions, and animations.

The launch is expected to have a significant impact globally, particularly in countries like Pakistan, where educators, startups, and marketers can now create affordable, high-quality video content. Businesses too can benefit by streamlining training, demos, and promotional campaigns through this free tool.
