Who is Usman? Private School Staff Booked After Employee's Suicide
KARACHI: A case has been registered against three staff members of a private school in Karachi following the death of a 25-year-old employee, Usman, who allegedly took his own life by jumping from the eighth floor of the school building in the Saddar area.
According to police, the incident took place on September 1 within the jurisdiction of Brigade Police Station. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, who accused the school administration of subjecting his sibling to mental harassment that drove him to suicide.
The complainant stated that his brother, identified as Usman, left home for work at around 8:15 am. Less than an hour later, at 9:35 am, he received a phone call informing him that Usman’s condition had deteriorated and that he was being shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
Upon reaching the hospital, the family was informed that Usman had fallen from the school’s eighth floor at around 8:45 am. By the time his brother arrived at the emergency ward, Usman had already passed away.
Police said the victim had posted a final note on social media shortly before his death, directly blaming three colleagues — identified as Irfan, Hassan, and Talha — for subjecting him to mental torture, which he claimed forced him to take the extreme step.
Officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the three accused under Sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 322 (punishment for manslaughter) of the Pakistan Penal Code. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
