Maryam Nawaz Orders Flood Relief Package in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a special meeting to review flood relief measures and directed officials to prepare a comprehensive rehabilitation package for flood-affected families.

The Chief Minister instructed the Urban Unit, Board of Revenue, and other departments to take immediate steps for the relief package. She also ordered an increase in financial assistance for victims and directed the preparation of a special program for flood-hit farmers.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for a quick survey to assess damages and announced the formation of a high-level committee to oversee the process. She said the rehabilitation plan must be completed without delay.

For families unable to return home immediately, the CM directed districts to set up separate marquees for men and women, with clean drinking water, food, and other basic facilities.

The meeting also decided to remove encroachments from waterways and declare rivers and streams as red zones for construction. Affected houses will be included in the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing program.

Maryam Nawaz said: “We will not rest until flood victims are fully rehabilitated. Punjab needs a master plan to protect against floods and other natural disasters.”
