Nationwide Public Holiday Announced on September 23
Saudi Arabia has declared a nationwide public holiday on September 23 to mark its 95th National Day.
Arab media reports that the day will be celebrated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. The holiday applies to both citizens and expatriates living in the Kingdom. The National Day was first observed in 1965 during the reign of King Faisal, and in 2005, King Abdullah made it a permanent official holiday through a royal decree.
The day commemorates King Abdulaziz’s historic proclamation of 1932, which unified Najd and Hijaz under the name Saudi Arabia.
This year, the celebration carries the theme “Our Pride is in Our Nature”, symbolizing the cultural traditions and natural heritage of the Saudi people.
The festivities will include fireworks, drone shows, Saudi Hawks’ aerial displays, cultural performances, traditional dances, and exhibitions. Major cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam will host special events, and key landmarks will be lit up in green. The National Day is observed annually on September 23.
