Continuous Rainfall Across Sindh Sparks Demand for School Closures

Continuous Rainfall Across Sindh Sparks Demand for School Closures
KARACHI – Heavy monsoon rains continued to lash Sindh on Tuesday, prompting calls for the closure of educational institutions across the province.
The All Sindh Private Schools Association urged the provincial education minister to immediately announce holidays for schools, citing safety concerns for students and teachers amid the ongoing downpour. The association stressed that roads in many cities, including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, are already inundated, making it difficult for students to commute.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in several parts of Sindh within the next 24 hours. The weather office warned of potential urban flooding in low-lying areas, further raising concerns about public safety and disruption of daily life.
Residents across Karachi have reported waterlogging, traffic jams, and power outages as rainfall continues to batter the city. Parents and educationists are calling for swift action from the provincial government to prevent risks to schoolchildren.
If the rain continues, authorities may be forced to extend school closures province-wide until conditions improve.
