Who Is Tommy Robinson? Far-Right Activist Behind London Rally With Over 1 Lakh Supporters
London witnessed a huge far-right march named “Unite the Kingdom”, led by controversial activist Tommy Robinson. The rally saw a turnout of nearly 110,000 people, making it one of the largest far-right gatherings in recent years.
Elon Musk’s Controversial Speech
Adding to the shock, Elon Musk addressed the rally through a video link. Musk told the crowd: “You’re in a fundamental situation here where whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die, that’s the truth.”
Musk also called for the dissolution of Parliament, a change of government, and blamed migration for the “destruction of Britain.” His remarks quickly sparked outrage among political leaders.
Ed Davey’s Response
Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey accused Musk of inciting violence and interfering in democracy. In a letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Davey urged him to condemn Musk’s comments, warning:
Musk’s words “represent a serious and dangerous interference in our democracy.”
“No individual, however wealthy or powerful, can get away with inflaming tensions.”
The remarks undermine Britain’s values of peaceful debate, elections, and the rule of law.
Who Is Tommy Robinson?
Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is a well-known far-right activist in the UK. He rose to prominence as the founder of the English Defence League (EDL) and has been linked to anti-Islamic campaigns.
Over the years, Robinson has faced multiple arrests, including charges related to contempt of court, fraud, and violent protests. Despite this, he continues to attract large followings at rallies.
Musk’s Support for Robinson
This is not the first time Musk has aligned with Robinson. Earlier this year, Musk:
Claimed Keir Starmer’s government covered up historic child sex abuse cases.
Shared a baseless claim that a 2008 Home Office memo told police not to intervene in child grooming cases. The Home Office strongly denied such a document ever existed.
What’s Next?
The massive rally and Musk’s speech have ignited fierce debate across Britain. Pressure is now mounting on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to take a strong stance against both Musk’s remarks and Robinson’s growing influence.
