Meta leak reveals new Ray-Ban and Oakley AI glasses
Meta accidentally uploaded a video on YouTube that revealed its upcoming lineup of AI-powered smart glasses. The video was quickly removed, but it gave a clear look at new Ray-Ban and Oakley models just before the Meta Connect event.
Ray-Ban Hypernova
The main highlight is the Ray-Ban “Hypernova,” which comes with a built-in heads-up display (HUD). This feature lets users see maps, messages, and other info directly in front of their eyes.
EMG Wrist Controller
The Hypernova will also work with a special wristband that uses EMG (electromyography) technology. This device reads tiny muscle movements in the wrist and fingers, allowing users to control the glasses without touching them.
Oakley Meta Sphaera
Another model, designed for athletes, is the Oakley Meta Sphaera. It comes with a built-in camera at the center of the frame.
Updated Models
Meta is also preparing updated versions of its existing Ray-Ban AI glasses and the Oakley Meta HSTN line.
What It Means
These new features show that Meta is moving beyond simple photo and audio functions to more advanced AI wearables. The EMG controller, in particular, could change how people interact with smart glasses.
Price and Launch
Reports suggest the Hypernova glasses could cost around $800, targeting tech fans and early adopters. More details, including launch dates and pre-orders, are expected at the Meta Connect event.
Meta believes wearables like these will play a big role in the future of AI, possibly even replacing phones and headsets as the main way people interact with technology.
