London Stansted Airport Delays After Fire in Escape Lounge

Passengers at London Stansted Airport faced disruption early Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in one of its passenger lounges.

According to airport officials, a “small fire” started in the Escape Lounge at around 03:30 BST, producing a significant amount of smoke. The airport’s fire service responded quickly and managed to extinguish the flames before they spread further.

Authorities confirmed that no passengers or staff were injured during the incident.

For safety reasons, access to the security area was temporarily suspended, leaving many travelers waiting to pass through. By 06:00 BST, security reopened, but the airport advised that delays were still possible and urged passengers to check their flight status before traveling.

London Stansted has since resumed normal operations, though airlines have warned of minor knock-on effects to schedules throughout the day.
