Pakistan Approves Wi-Fi 7 for Faster, Next-Gen Internet Connectivity
Pakistan has taken another major step in its digital journey as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially approved the use of Wi-Fi 7 and future Wi-Fi generations in the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz).
This approval comes after the regulator’s earlier nod for Wi-Fi 6E, positioning Pakistan among the early adopters of next-generation wireless technologies in the Asia-Pacific region. The move underscores the country’s commitment to digital innovation and advanced connectivity.
Wi-Fi 7 is set to deliver ultra-fast data speeds, low latency, and highly reliable connections, making it ideal for high-demand applications such as 8K video streaming, augmented and virtual reality, and industrial automation.
By easing congestion on older frequency bands and lowering broadband costs, the new technology will significantly boost internet access for homes, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), healthcare, education, and smart city infrastructure.
According to PTA, this milestone lays the groundwork for Pakistan’s Wi-Fi 7 rollout and reflects the regulator’s vision of bridging the digital divide while driving forward an inclusive digital economy.
