Joint Statement Issued After Fourth Quadrilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of China, Iran, Pakistan, and Russia
New York – A joint statement was released following the fourth quadrilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of China, Iran, Pakistan, and Russia, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly at Russia’s invitation.
According to China’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on the situation in Afghanistan and reaffirmed the commitment of all four parties to supporting Afghanistan as an independent, united, and peaceful state.
The statement stressed the need for an Afghanistan free from terrorism, war, and narcotics, and called on Afghan authorities to dismantle terrorist infrastructure on their soil.
The four sides also highlighted the importance of effective regional measures to strengthen Afghanistan’s economy, underscoring continued economic, trade, and regional connectivity with Kabul. They further reaffirmed their readiness to expand cooperation and provide ongoing humanitarian assistance.
Expressing deep concern over the security situation linked to terrorism in Afghanistan, the ministers emphasized the need to facilitate the safe return of Afghan refugees, and called for ensuring Afghan girls’ access to education, employment, and economic opportunities
