Introduction

Syed Abdul Qayyum Bukhari is a senior Lahore-based Pakistani journalist with over 28 years of experience in print and electronic media. Throughout his career, he has held key editorial and executive positions in several leading national newspapers and television news channels.

Early Career in Print Media

Bukhari began his professional journey in journalism as a reporter. He later transitioned to newsroom operations, serving as a sub-editor in various national newspapers. Over the years, he advanced to senior editorial roles, including News Editor, Chief News Editor, and Editor at prominent Pakistani dailies, where he played a central role in shaping editorial policies and newsroom management.

Transition to Electronic Media

In February 2006, Bukhari moved from print to electronic media, joining Din News as Director News. Following the 2008 general elections, he became affiliated with the Lahore-based daily Daily AlJareeda as Chief Editor. In August 2008, he joined News 5, a channel associated with the Khabrain Group, where he served as Director News until 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he was again associated with Dunya News in a senior editorial capacity. Between July 2012 and 2014, Bukhari served as Editor News at Daily Dunya. From August 2014 to March 2015, he worked with Such News and subsequently rejoined Dunya News, remaining there until November 2016.

Executive Roles in Islamabad

In 2016, Bukhari relocated from Lahore to Islamabad and joined a news channel under the Pakistan Group as Director News and Current Affairs, a position he held until February 2020. Since February 2020, he has been serving as Director News and Current Affairs at a leading Pakistani television channel. In addition to his executive responsibilities, he regularly appears on various television platforms as a political and current affairs analyst. He also hosts a podcast titled “Riyasat with Qayyum Bukhari” on GTV News, where he discusses political, diplomatic, and security-related issues.
