Pakistan Slams India at UNGA for Running Secret Terrorist Network to Destabilize Region
NEW YORK: Tensions between Pakistan and India escalated at the United Nations General Assembly this week, with Pakistan slamming India for running a secret terrorist network aimed at destabilising the region.
At the 80th UNGA session, Pakistan’s Second Secretary Muhammad Rashid responded sharply to India’s prior statements, calling its actions “extremely low and shameful.” He accused New Delhi of backing cross-border terrorism and claimed Indian intelligence agencies were involved in targeted assassinations and sabotage abroad.
“Indian intelligence officials are not just funding disruptive groups, they are actively conducting operations that threaten regional stability,” Rashid said. “India routinely violates international law.”
He also criticised India’s “two-faced policy” on counter-terrorism, alleging that instead of fighting terrorism, it perpetuates it both domestically and internationally.
Rashid claimed India’s efforts extend beyond political and diplomatic channels, involving direct action through proxies. As an example, he cited the 2016 arrest of Kulbhushan Jadhav, whom Pakistan alleges is an Indian intelligence officer involved in subversive activities.
Referring to the recent incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Rashid called it a “pre-planned game” by Indian authorities and reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to conduct a joint investigation. “India has yet to provide any credible evidence,” he added.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, noting over 90,000 Pakistani lives lost. “We have borne a heavy burden in the war on terror, yet our neighbor continues to act as both instigator and aggressor,” he said.
On broader regional issues, Rashid stressed Pakistan’s commitment to peace in Afghanistan and South Asia. “The 1.9 billion people of South Asia deserve peace and prosperity,” he said, emphasizing that dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect are key to lasting stability.
He concluded by urging India to abandon “extremist ideologies” and pursue peace. “If India truly wants regional stability, it must choose diplomacy over aggression,” Rashid stated.
