Last Gaza Flotilla Boat Continues Alone After Israeli Interceptions

Friday, October 3, 2025 – The last remaining aid boat of the Global Sumud Flotilla is still sailing towards Gaza after Israeli forces stopped dozens of other vessels earlier this week.

The flotilla, which included more than 40 ships, left last month with aid, activists, and politicians on board. Among them was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The mission aimed to deliver humanitarian support to Gaza, where the United Nations has warned that famine is worsening due to the ongoing blockade.

Israeli Navy Intercepts Dozens of Vessels

On Wednesday, Israeli navy units began intercepting the flotilla. By Thursday, officials confirmed that more than 400 people had been stopped at sea. According to flotilla organizers, 42 vessels were “illegally intercepted” and their passengers were “unlawfully abducted”.

The crackdown on the aid ships has drawn protests from activists and human rights groups worldwide. Critics argue that blocking humanitarian support worsens the crisis inside Gaza.

Marinette Still Sailing Towards Gaza

Despite the risks, one boat named Marinette has not turned back. According to the flotilla’s live tracker, the vessel continues to move forward towards Gaza’s coastline.

The organizers posted a message on Instagram, saying:
“The world saw what happens when civilians challenge a siege. And still — Marinette sails on. She knows the fate of her sisters on the water. She knows what awaits. And she refuses to turn back.”

Global Reaction to the Flotilla Crackdown

The interceptions have sparked criticism in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Activists say the flotilla only carries food, medicine, and humanitarian aid for Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israel argues that allowing the flotilla into Gaza would break its security blockade. The naval blockade has been in place since 2007, with Israel saying it is needed to stop weapons from reaching Hamas.

Humanitarian Situation in Gaza

The UN has recently warned that famine and hunger are spreading rapidly in Gaza. Medical shortages, destroyed infrastructure, and restrictions on aid entry have left the local population in desperate need of outside help.
