Rice prices jump in Pakistan - check Oct 2025 update
Rice prices in Pakistan have gone up sharply as inflation continues to rise following the recent floods that badly damaged farmlands. The increase has made it even harder for people to manage their household budgets.
Rising Rice Prices
According to market reports, rice prices have increased by up to Rs15 per kilogram.
Super Kainat rice is now being sold for Rs415 per kg, while the premium quality Super Kainat has reached Rs440 per kg.
Single Steam rice is available at around Rs400 per kg.
Super Kernel rice is priced between Rs380 and Rs385 per kg, and Seela rice is selling for Rs390 per kg.
Retailers say this price hike is due to higher purchasing costs from farmers, increased production expenses, and rising transportation charges — all of which have affected overall prices.
Inflation Worsening the Situation
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), weekly inflation rose by 0.56% during the week ending October 2. Prices of 19 essential items increased, while 12 fell and 20 remained unchanged.
The biggest increases were seen in tomatoes (46.44%), petrol (1.72%), diesel (1.45%), garlic (1.41%), and onions (1.22%).
Meanwhile, items like chicken (-7.96%), bananas (-0.78%), and potatoes (-0.43%) became slightly cheaper.
With food and fuel prices rising again, many Pakistanis are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with daily expenses. The government is under pressure to take measures to control inflation and support struggling families.
