Real Housewives of Miami Star Alexia’s Ex-Husband Todd Sues Bravo for $10 Million – Here’s Why

14 October, 2025 12:24

Todd Nepola, a Miami-based real estate investor and developer with an estimated net worth exceeding $100 million, has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Bravo Media, its parent company NBCUniversal, and production company Purveyors of Pop.

The suit, filed on October 7, 2024, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, accuses the network and producers of falsely depicting him as financially unstable and unlawfully exploiting his name and likeness.

According to court documents, Nepola alleges that the producers deliberately manipulated his image to fabricate a more dramatic narrative for his ex-wife, The Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Nepola, across seasons 6 and 7 of the series. He contends that this portrayal has inflicted substantial damage to his reputation within Miami’s business community.

Nepola and Alexia were in a serious relationship for seven years before marrying in December 2021. After two years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in April 2024, which was finalized in March 2025. Although Todd appeared in seasons 4 and 5 of The Real Housewives of Miami, he did not sign contracts for seasons 6 and 7. Despite his absence, producers allegedly continued to feature him through re-used footage and repeated references, maintaining his role in Alexia’s storyline.

The lawsuit asserts that Bravo and its affiliates deliberately portrayed Nepola as “broke and struggling” to heighten the drama surrounding Alexia’s narrative. Specific episodes are cited in which fellow cast member Adriana de Moura allegedly spread false statements, claiming that Todd’s business was failing, that he might be forced to break his lease and move into a smaller apartment, and that he was facing financial collapse.

Nepola’s legal team accuses the defendants of “twisting and distorting the truth” to serve the show’s sensationalist goals, ignoring the real-world harm such depictions could cause. His lawyers claim that Todd had repeatedly informed the producers of the falsehoods being aired, yet they disregarded his concerns to prioritize ratings.

In his defense, Nepola maintains that his business remains strong, pointing out that he acquired over $15 million worth of real estate during the show’s filming period, financed entirely through legitimate bank loans. His attorneys argue that the producers either knew or should have known that the financial allegations were baseless. The lawsuit seeks $1 million in damages on this second claim and requests a jury trial.

Todd’s attorney, Scott Weisenberg, emphasized in a statement: “This lawsuit represents an opportunity for Todd Nepola to set the record straight and hold the Defendants accountable for their intentional and reckless disregard for the truth. Mr. Nepola wanted to be Alexia’s husband, not her storyline. Enough is enough!”

The filing further asserts that The Real Housewives of Miami has “intentionally and maliciously continued to broadcast defamatory statements” about Nepola, misusing his identity and causing significant harm to his professional reputation. It details the resulting consequences, including “ongoing reputational injury, emotional distress, and economic harm amplified by widespread online circulation — a foreseeable outcome of the show’s design and marketing.”

As of now, neither Alexia Nepola nor NBCUniversal has issued a public response regarding the lawsuit.
