Saudi Arabia Unveils Ambitious ‘King Salman Gate’ Project to Transform Makkah’s Masjid al-Haram Area
In a significant initiative to enhance Makkah’s infrastructure and accessibility, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has officially launched the ‘King Salman Gate’ project, which promises to revolutionize the vicinity surrounding Masjid al-Haram.
Spanning a vast 12 million square meters adjacent to the holy mosque, the project is designed to deliver extensive urban development and upgraded public facilities.
Arab media sources report that the ‘King Salman Gate’ will encompass a diverse range of residential, cultural, and commercial zones. It will also provide extensive prayer spaces capable of accommodating over 900,000 worshippers in both indoor and outdoor settings, including prayer halls and open courtyards.
The development will be seamlessly connected to the public transportation network, facilitating easier access to Masjid al-Haram for millions of visitors, particularly pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah.
This ambitious venture is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the economy and bolster infrastructure. The project is projected to generate more than 300,000 jobs by 2036, contributing substantially to the Kingdom’s sustained economic growth.
As a cornerstone of the Vision 2030 agenda, the ‘King Salman Gate’ initiative is set to redefine the urban landscape of Makkah while significantly enhancing the experience for residents and pilgrims alike.
