Pakistan Rejects Taliban Spokesperson’s Statement as Misleading, Against Facts
Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly rejected the recent statement issued by the Afghan Taliban spokesperson, calling it misleading and contrary to facts.
In a clarification posted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on social media platform X, the ministry said that Pakistan’s stance had been misrepresented, and that the Taliban spokesperson’s comments about the Istanbul talks were a distortion of facts.
The statement added that during the talks, Pakistan had clearly demanded the arrest of terrorists operating from Afghan soil, and even offered to take them into custody immediately after the Afghan side’s claims.
The ministry emphasized that Pakistan’s position has always been transparent, firm, and on record, but false statements from the Afghan side continue to appear repeatedly.
It further clarified that any handover of terrorists can only take place through official border entry points, warning that distorting facts harms the atmosphere of mutual trust between both countries.
