Pakistan Army fully prepared to defend borders: DG ISPR
ISLAMABAD : Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that Pakistan is fully prepared to protect its borders and people.
He stated that the decision to send any “peacekeeping force to Gaza” will be made by the government and parliament, not the military. Pakistan, he said, is an independent country and makes its own policies.
Giving details about security operations, the DG ISPR said that during the operation “Fitna-tul-Khawarij,” around 1,667 terrorists were killed. He added that Pakistan’s armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorism completely.
He clarified that the Pakistan Army does not want to get involved in politics and should be kept away from political matters. Political, criminal, and terrorist groups, he noted, are major obstacles in maintaining peace and law in the country.
Talking about internal security, he said operations in Thar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are continuing successfully based on intelligence reports.
Regarding Afghanistan, DG ISPR said that Pakistan’s stance on terrorism remains firm. “Afghanistan’s conditions do not matter; ending terrorism is what’s important,” he said. He also revealed that drug smugglers are influencing Afghan politics and that large amounts of drugs are being smuggled into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
He emphasized that Pakistan will never hold talks with terrorists. Pakistan’s response to recent Afghan-related incidents, he said, was “quick and effective,” producing exactly the results the country wanted.
