Karachi drivers face fines of up to Rs50,000 for driving without license

03 November, 2025 19:45

Driving without a valid license in Karachi will now lead to heavy fines of up to Rs50,000, according to Sindh Inspector General (IG) Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.

Speaking to the media, the IG said the decision is part of new measures to strictly enforce traffic laws and promote safer driving across Sindh.

Under the new penalty system, motorcyclists caught without a license will be fined Rs20,000, Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) drivers Rs30,000, and Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) drivers Rs50,000. These fines will apply throughout the province.

Additionally, speed limits have been set on Karachi’s main roads — motorcycles and LTVs can go up to 60 km/h, while HTVs must not exceed 30 km/h. To monitor this, speed cameras are being installed around the city.

The IG added that about 10,000 heavy vehicles are being fitted with GPS trackers connected to the TRACS system for real-time monitoring. The move aims to ensure responsible driving and reduce road accidents across Karachi and Sindh.
